finished the wheels & the hull
the parts of the hull were bent when i opened the model kit and i had to straighten them with boiled water. unfortunately i fried one of them. so i cut it off and put some of white styrene on it
making the wheels work smoothly was too hard for me.

i have been working on the axles

they are pretty small

the problem is the front axle doesn't work smoothly

i need to modify it...

Challenge for 1:43 scale Land Rover Defender

I've got two Diecast models of Defender.

One of them is 1:43 Defender.

This is a huge challenge and I'm not sure if I could finish this project.

But I'm gonna try~ lol

Got micro ESC things and servo last week tho, didn't take pics of them yet.

Even though it is 1/43 scale, I will make this 4x4 crawler. Wish me luck =)

finished the chassis & made tires narrow

i finished the chassis

u-bolts & more leaf springs give less wheel travel tho, i like the chassis

however those tires are not that soft. the compound is rubbery though not soft enough. so i made the tires of tamiya 4x4 mini truck narrow. these are pretty soft

the picture below shows 5 kinds of tires, it is just my opinion tho.

these are soft enough, when i press the chassis, the tires look pressed. good =)

 

making u-bolt

i bought a 1.4 metric die(M1.4 0.3mm pitch) to make u-bolts.

i like it. it's easy to make u-bolts

i used 1.5mm brass round stick

 

the test of 100:1 geared motor & drive shaft

i like 100:1 geared motors. they're like snails tho, have more torque
finished a flexible drive shaft. it's better than solid one. no more clicking while it's working

i ordered geared motors(gear ratio 100:1) anyway...

made a paper mockup before building a brass gearbox

im gonna use two geared motors for this project, bcuz the chevy weighs more than my h1 and the raito of the motors is 30:1. it needs more power, maybe i should've used lower speed motors to get torque though, i want speedy motors as well. i'll try these first. wth :D

 

i cut off the ends of the bolts for mounting shackles to make them shorter. they were kinda long before

 

i've got bolts to mount these geared motors. it was hard to get them, bcuz the size is not regular

i bent the frame rails with bending pliers, some sand, and a torch
at this time, i'm using smaller bolts & nuts. i bought them at an optician´s. they are small but strong enough.
i will use two geared motors for this rig.

now im using only four leaf springs but i'll add more. because the body and the stuff are heavier than i thought
